Every filmmaker need a source of good music. Music is an incredibly important moreover is essential part of any video content. However, it becomes harder & harder to find good background music free of royalties / charge.
The new copyright systems are getting more advanced every day, YouTube and other video hostings may ban you for not having license and that is the least that may happen to you.
What if you are just starting your filmmaking career? What if you are an indie artist or your project is not funded even though it is for commercial use? Perhaps you are in the beginning of your entrepreneurship road & every cent counts or filmmaking is your hobby & you wish to simply share with the world you creation? Or maybe you wish to monetise it on YouTube, but you don't really make anything out of it yet? Or maybe you create videos for your local church?
There are tons of cases when one has no funds or it doesn't make sense to spend money on licensing. We at s7Leven production
have been selling licenses for our music for a year now, but we recently realised that we are not really helping anyone.
There are so many great projects that could have happened with our music if it would be free, yet even though our licenses were not that expensive for numerous cases they still are & tons of filmmakers still need to find some old soundtracks or use music illegally.
We made a decision that we want to change that. We decided to make most of our music available for free & to keep it that way forever. More to that, we are licensing all our released music to date along with future releases & even custom music under"Creative Commons Attribution - NoDerivatives 4.0 International"What does that mean?
In short, it means that anyone may use, share, copy and redistribute our music in any medium or format for any purpose, even commercially & we cannot revoke these freedoms as long as you follow the license terms.
The terms are really simple:Attribution
— You simply need to provide credit. Simply use: "Music by s7Leven.com" or "Royalty Free Music by s7Leven production"NoDerivatives
— If you remix, transform, or build upon the material, you may not distribute the modified material.
You may ask:"Hold on, hold on - this sound too good to be true. Even custom music? This is great, but how are you going to make money & survive?"
Good point. We will still be selling licenses for our music, but we will do it slightly in a different way. You may find all the details about our licensing system by following the link below!
